Agriculture Minister John McVeigh has invited graziers affected by the Bovine Johne\u2019s Disease (BJD) outbreak to attend a meeting to be held soon in Gympie.<\/p>\n

It is one of a series of meetings scheduled for throughout the State.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll producers affected by BJD in Queensland will receive an invitation and are welcome to attend any of the meetings,” Mr McVeigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meetings will act as a workshop for affected producers, their private vets, and government to collectively discuss the BJD response.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese workshops are discussions at the grass roots and are following on from industry forums and teleconferences held since last November.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are in response to requests from producers who want to further discuss the BJD process.<\/p>\n

\u201cBJD is having a significant impact on many in the Queensland cattle industry so it\u2019s important that we offer affected producers the opportunity to raise their concerns and be heard.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese meetings will provide an opportunity for affected producers to ask questions about their situation to our panel of government and technical experts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The expert panel will include Biosecurity Queensland\u2019s Chief Biosecurity Officer Dr Jim Thompson, BJD Industry Liaison Officer Dr Ron Glanville and BJD counsellor Campbell Trotter.<\/p>\n

NB. This meeting is for affected producers only. It is not open to the general public, other graziers or the media<\/em><\/p>\n
