Senior Constable Adam Entwistle, from Kumbia Police, has some advice that might just save your life … and also remove the temptation of using your mobile phone when you’re behind the wheel.<\/p>\n

Snr Const Entwistle shared the tips recently in the “My Police” blog:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most mobile phones today have the ability to be put into a \u2018Do Not Disturb\u2019 mode while you are driving.<\/p>\n

Police recommend we all use this feature to keep our hands, eyes and ears solely concentrating on driving.<\/p>\n

iPhone:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • 1. Open Settings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • 2. Tap \u2018Do Not Disturb\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • 3. Scroll to \u201cDo Not Disturb While Driving\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • 4. Tap on \u201cActivate\u201d to choose how you want “Do Not Disturb While Driving” to be turned on. Whenever “Do Not Disturb While Driving” is activated, you\u2019ll see a bar at the top of the screen letting you know incoming notifications are being muted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Android: <\/strong><\/p>\n

          These phones are a bit harder.<\/p>\n

          The easiest way is to use a free app located on the Google Play Store called “Driving Detective”.<\/p>\n

          Install the app and start it.<\/p>\n

          Once the app is on, a screen will appear. Allow the app to access notifications on your phone.<\/p>\n

          You can make changes to how the app works by tapping on the \u201cDo not disturb preferences\u201d and \u201cPriority only settings\u201d\u00a0\u2013 but the default settings are fine.<\/p>\n
