May 23, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Twenty-seven people – including nine juveniles – have been charged with a total of more than 100 offences after a police operation in Murgon and Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

The charges include property and drug offences.<\/p>\n

The following post appeared on the Murgon Neighbourhood Watch page on Wednesday night:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In relation to the recent Police Activity in Murgon and surrounding areas, Murgon CIB wishes to advise that Operation Overwhelm was a success.<\/em><\/p>\n

This 2 day operation has resulted in 27 offenders \u2013 18 Adults and 9 juveniles \u2013 being charged for 104 drug\/property related offences.<\/em><\/p>\n

This was a joint Policing operation with assistance being given by Cherbourg and Murgon Police and the Moreton Tactical Crime Squad<\/em><\/p>\n

UPDATE May 24:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Police searched a number of properties on May 22-23 and allegedly located cannabis, cannabis seeds, utensils and restricted liquor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Officer-in-Charge of the Murgon CIB Senior Sergeant Lance Guteridge heralded the operation as a success as it was a direct reflection of the efforts of police.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperationally, it demonstrated the officers\u2019 diligence to duty and commitment to keeping the community safe,\u201d Snr Sgt Guteridge said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperation Quebec Overwhelm has sent a very clear message to the community in that if you break the law, you will be apprehended.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police Minister Mark Ryan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Police would also like to acknowledge the assistance from the local community in providing information which assisted police in the arrest of 27 people.<\/p>\n

A statement from Police Minister Mark Ryan said it was “a textbook illustration of modern policing strategy”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“When a issue arises in a community police resources are promptly allocated to respond,” the statement continued.<\/p>\n

Mr Ryan commended the Queensland Police Service for “its relentless and innovative approach to fighting crime”.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice have sent a clear message: Commit a crime in the Murgon, Cherbourg region and you will be arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n
