The South Burnett’s draft Sport and Recreation Plan proposes “rationalising” some of the region’s parks, and the first public consultation meetings about it will be held on Sunday, May 20<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council will kick off public consultations this weekend for its controversial draft Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Plan.<\/p>\n

The Plan recommends “rationalising” a number of the region’s parks.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, May 20, the Council will hold its first two public consultation meetings in Blackbutt and Nanango.<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt meeting will be held at the Bunya Nut Cafe in Coulson Street from 10:00am to noon; and the Nanango meeting will be held at Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.<\/p>\n

The full draft plan can be downloaded from Council’s website<\/b><\/a> (12Mb PDF), but residents who don’t have time to read all the report’s 113 pages will find its recommendations for Blackbutt-Benarkin on Pages 78-81; for Maidenwell on Page 83; and for Nanango Pages 64-65.<\/p>\n

On Monday, May 21 similar meetings will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall Reception Room from 9:00am to 11:00am; and at Wondai’s Coronation Park from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The report’s recommendations for Kingaroy can be found on Pages 55-56; Kumbia on Page 82; Memerambi on Page 84; and Wooroolin on Page 85.<\/p>\n

Wondai parks are on Page 74, and Tingoora on Page 86.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, two final meetings will be held: At the Proston Library in Blake Street from 9:00am to 11:00am; and at QEII Park in Murgon’s CBD from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The report’s recommendations for Proston and Hivesville are on Pages 87-88; and actions proposed for Murgon are on page 71.<\/p>\n

The Council has said it will not consider any inputs on the draft plan that aren’t made in writing, but readers who object to any particular recommendation can obtain the official two page Feedback form<\/b><\/a> (12Mb PDF) from Council’s website.<\/p>\n

Feedback forms can also be obtained from the Council’s Customer Service Centres and libraries.<\/p>\n

All feedback forms need to be lodged by close of business (4:30pm) on Friday, May 25.<\/p>\n
