Heritage House in Yarraman threw a special celebration on Monday morning to thank Stanwell for their help in giving the historic building a new lease on life.<\/p>\n

Stanwell, via its Tarong Community Partnership Fund, donated the money to allow the large wooden building to receive a fresh coat of paint.<\/p>\n

A grant from the corporation in 2016 allowed the front facade of the building to be painted.<\/p>\n

The Yarraman Historical Society then began looking around for sources of funding to get the rest of the building re-coated.<\/p>\n

When nothing was forthcoming, Stanwell stepped in again to help and the result has been a complete transformation of the former Catholic convent<\/p>\n

”The Tarong Community Partnership Fund gave us the money to paint our poor, dilapidated old building – and the guttering came with it, which was very good!” Historical Society president Helene Johnson told guests at the brunch.<\/p>\n

She said the result had been greeted with “so much positivity from everybody” who visited the building.<\/p>\n

“It’s so fantastic and we really appreciate it.”<\/p>\n

Stanwell Executive General Manager (Business Services) Jenny Gregg said it was only fitting that the outside of the building now matched “the beauty of what is going on inside”.<\/p>\n

She said Heritage House was the heart and soul of the Yarraman community.<\/p>\n

“It’s all so much more than a coat of paint.”<\/p>\n

Heritage House contains the Historical Society\u2019s records, a large museum, the studios for community radio station Wild Horse FM 99.7, and is a valuable meeting place for community groups.<\/p>\n
