South Burnett Regional Council has released the times and locations for the one-on-one consultations to gather feedback on its controversial draft Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n

Council’s release of the draft plan, prepared by Brisbane consultant Helen Carroll from Ross Planning, created a stir on social media last week, with accusations that smaller towns in the region were being penalised at the expense of Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Particular anger was directed at a proposal to “rationalise” Apex Park in Kumbia with the removal of playground equipment.<\/p>\n

A media release from SBRC on Thursday encouraged “individuals in the community” to attend one-on-one meetings with the consultant to provide feedback on the draft plan.<\/p>\n

“The draft plan was endorsed by Council for public comment in late April, and currently is available on Council\u2019s website, from Council\u2019s Customer Service Centres and Libraries until Friday, May 25. A feedback form has been provided to assist people comment on the plan\u2019s content,” the statement continued.<\/p>\n

“The one-on-one meetings are being provided as an opportunity for any questions regarding the draft plan to be answered, and to clarify any content that isn\u2019t clear.<\/p>\n

“One-on-one meetings also provide an opportunity to provide feedback for people who prefer having a conversation, rather than writing their comments down.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“All feedback received will be collated for Council to review prior to the plan being finalised.<\/p>\n

“The overarching goal of this plan is to create a strategic network of sport and recreation parks across the South Burnett to meet the needs of our community as it develops and changes over the next 10 years, and that can be sustainably managed to a standard encouraging active use by residents and visitors.”<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell said Councillors appreciated the feedback received so far from residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage those who have read the plan and have an opinion to place their comments in writing to Council, or attend a one-on-one meeting,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Council statement recommended residents contact Helen Carroll on 0427-355-101 or via helen@rossplanning.com.au<\/a> to book in for a specific time “otherwise a short wait may be required if someone is ahead of you”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“If this is the case, your patience is requested and appreciated,” the statement continued.<\/p>\n

“Residents are encouraged to read the draft plan and attend a one-on-one meeting to provide comments to improve the plan, or complete a feedback form provided on Council\u2019s website, at Council Customer Service Centres or libraries, or by emailing it to info@southburnett.qld.gov.au<\/a><\/strong>”<\/p>\n
