The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club held its third annual John Titman Golden Steel Shoe Challenge at the Kingaroy Showgrounds on Saturday, and it drew a big field of competitors.<\/p>\n

“It was a fantastic day of racing with many of the heats coming down to the wire,” club secretary Tracey Tunstall said.<\/p>\n

“Final standings came down to countbacks with points tied.”<\/p>\n

This year’s winners were:<\/p>\n

PeeWee and SuperLites<\/strong>
\nJai Bainbridge, Corey Van Elswyk, Aliyah Goulding, Charlotte Goulding, Will Trace, Nate Andrewartha, Cohan Sanders<\/p>\n

125cc riders<\/strong>
\nFlynn Nicol (1st), Cordell Rogerson (2nd) and Tate Zischke (3rd) with Blake Warrington, Liam Powell, Dane Walsh, Patrick Bowes and Jetzen Lyons.<\/p>\n

250cc riders<\/strong>
\nJacob Hook (1st), Cordell Rogerson (2nd), Flynn Nicol (3rd)<\/p>\n

“This year our major sponsor, international speedway star John Titman was unable to attend due personal reasons, but sent his regards and wished all the riders well,” Tracey said.<\/p>\n

“However we were very lucky to have Barry Newton with us.<\/p>\n

“Barry is legendary around the speedway tracks, very encouraging of the riders and a fountain of information about all things speedway.”<\/p>\n

Saturday was also the last day that up-and-coming South Burnett speedway rider Cordell Rogerson will be riding in the junior class.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Cordell will be turning 16 shortly and stepping up to 500cc motorcycles,” Tracey said.<\/p>\n

“He’s has been practicing and looks really good on it.<\/p>\n

“But he says he’ll be sticking around at the club and giving back by helping out with the juniors.”<\/p>\n
