St Joseph’s Catholic School at Murgon will be celebrating its 75th anniversary this weekend with a string of special events planned.<\/p>\n

Of Friday, a new classroom block will be officially opened and named “Edmund Rice” in recognition of the founder of the Christian Brothers. \u00a0This ceremony will start at 9:30am in St Joseph’s Church.<\/p>\n

At 12:30pm, a time capsule buried in 1987 as part of the 50-year celebrations will be opened. The items inside will be put on display for the rest of the weekend.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, a dinner dance will be held at the Murgon RSL from 6:00pm. A two-course meal will be served and music will be provided by local Cherbourg band “Muddy Flats”.<\/p>\n

Cost is $40 per head and numbers are limited, so bookings are necessary. Phone the school on (07) 4168-1627 for more information.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, a thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated at St Joseph’s Church from 10:00am which will be followed by a barbecue lunch and an opportunity to visit classrooms and look through old records and photographs. Memorabilia will also be on sale.<\/p>\n

At 3:00pm there will be a tree-planting ceremony which will bring the weekend to a conclusion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
