Nanango’s Roz Frohloff will be raising funds for the LifeFlight helicopter rescue service – but hopefully won’t need the service herself! – at Saturday’s Nanango Show.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett councillor told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0she had always wanted to try rodeo riding, and this year’s Show had given her the perfect opportunity.<\/p>\n

She has set up a\u00a0MyCause page<\/a><\/strong> where she is collecting donations for the cause, and buckets will also be passed around through the crowd on the night.<\/p>\n

The rodeo – and Roz’s steer ride – will be only one of the highlights of the 109th Nanango Show.<\/p>\n

Nanango Show Society president Les Schloss told guests at the annual Miss Showgirl dinner last Saturday that the popular harness racing would also be returning.<\/p>\n

This is the third year it will be featured in the main arena.<\/p>\n

The cattle section would also be hosting the\u00a027th Queensland Dexter Breed Show.<\/p>\n

“We’ll also have chainsawing, woodchops, junior judges, a dirt bike derby, dog and horse events and a baby animal farm, along with the rodeo,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Miss Showgirl Dinner was held this year at Taras Hall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Judges\u00a0Moya Hayden, Alice Greenup and Jules Entwistle selected Stacey Sanders, from the Nanango Hack & Pony Club, as this year’s Miss Showgirl.<\/p>\n

Nanango State High School teacher Nathan Trace\u00a0will be Nanango’s 2018 Rural Ambassador.<\/p>\n

Gates will open at 6:00am on Saturday and the show will run until midnight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for pensioners and children 14 or older, but children under 14 accompanied by a paying adult are free.<\/p>\n

The Show Society is also offering free camping on the weekend for stallholders and visitors.<\/p>\n

Other attractions at this year’s show will include Luke’s Reptile World, Noah’s Racing Piglets, live music, face-painting for children, a big sideshow alley and the Heritage Nanango fireworks display at 8:30pm.<\/p>\n
