They didn’t break a record but they had a lot of fun …<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Dance Krew’s attempt to break the Guinness World Record for disco dancing fell a long way short on Monday but the organisers haven’t given up hope of making it happen.<\/p>\n

The Krew is made up of Kingaroy High School students who are members of an after-school dance club.<\/p>\n

The current disco dance record is 314 dancers under the age of 18.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, only 62 dancers registered for the record bid which was held in Memorial Park, Kingaroy, on a pupil-free day for local schools.<\/p>\n

However, parent Kay Swansson – one of the key organisers – said the registration with the Guinness World record organisation lasted six months so they still had plenty of time to try again.<\/p>\n

“We will have another go at it in a couple of months, maybe on a school day,” she said.<\/p>\n

The disco record attempt turned into a fun family day in the park for participants, with jumping castles, a Lions Club sausage sizzle and free face-painting.<\/p>\n

Money raised on the day will help provide new costumes for the Kingaroy Dance Krew.<\/p>\n
