The need to obtain cultural heritage approval to realign a section of Memerambi Barkers Creek Road had thrown that project’s schedule into disarray, Roads portfolio chair Cr Gavin Jones told Wednesday’s Council meeting.<\/p>\n

The discovery of a micro-bat colony on Wattlecamp Road last month had also caused a temporary delay to that project, too.<\/p>\n

But now Council had gained necessary permissions, both were back on track.<\/p>\n

Work began on the Memerambi Barkers Creek Road realignment on April 10, and tree clearing on Wattlecamp Road re-started on April 16 as part of a road widening and overlay effort.<\/p>\n

Council work crews will also be undertaking four other construction projects this month.<\/p>\n

They include putting a final bitumen seal on Old Rifle Range Road at Nanango and Murphys Road in Crawford; building a new section of footpath along Haly Street, Kingaroy between Tuite and Murphy streets; and building another section of footpath between the school and Dutton Street in Murgon.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Council maintenance crews will be carrying out maintenance grades of Kinleymore School Road (Kinleymore), Faughnans Road (Booie) and Half Mile Creek Road (Gordonbrook).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gravel resheeting will either begin or continue on Walsh Road (Runnymede), Manumbar Road (Manumbar), Glencoe Road and Coverty Road (Coverty), Zolner Road and Liesegangs Road (Crawford), Old Taabinga Road (Haly Creek), Minmore Road (Wattle Camp) and Foleys Road (Goodger).<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Burrandowan Road will also be getting a touch-up in preparation for May’s Burrandowan Picnic Races; Boondooma Dam’s camp area roads will be resealed; and pavement repairs will be carried out on part of River Road at Kingaroy and some damaged parts of the Bunya Highway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
