The Kumbia Brain Drain … where just about everyone turns up, from cowboys and drag queens to aliens and scary monsters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The organisers of the 2018 Kumbia Drain are gearing up for a big celebration this year … the 25th anniversary of the extremely popular annual trivia night fundraiser for the Kumbia State School P&C.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year’s event is “Straya – 1993 to 2018”, celebrating the 25 Years of the Brain Drain.<\/p>\n

“This is huge for us.\u00a0 To be part of a legacy that remains the biggest fundraiser for Kumbia State School after so many years is incredible,”\u00a0P&C president Kate Curtain said.<\/p>\n

The Kumbia Brain Drain was started in 1993 by a small group of volunteers associated with the P&C.<\/p>\n

The aim was to raise funds for \u00a0projects that would benefit students at the school.<\/p>\n

“It’s still just a small group that does the heavy lifting each year, and on the night we have a great group of parents and friends that join us to bring everything together,” Kate said.<\/p>\n

“We also have a wide range of sponsors, mostly local businesses, who donate cash and prizes that we can raffle on the night. We’re very grateful for their support each year.<\/p>\n

“We have been able to learn a lot from year to year and all the feedback is used to make subsequent years better and better.<\/p>\n

“The Brain Drain sells out every year and although we’re making some extra tables available this time, we expect tickets to sell quickly. So we’re encouraging everyone to get in early to make sure they get a seat at the big one.”<\/p>\n

The 2018 Brain Drain will be held on Saturday, August 4 and tickets are now on sale online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cost is $120 per table or $240 for a corporate table (both six players). Participants must be aged 15 years and over.<\/p>\n

A light meal is included in the ticket price. Tea and coffee is provided. BYO Esky and other snacks if required.<\/p>\n

A bus will also be available to bring partygoers from Kingaroy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
