{"id":206537,"date":"2018-04-17T17:26:37","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T07:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=206537"},"modified":"2018-04-18T22:21:15","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T12:21:15","slug":"trc-supports-community-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2018\/04\/17\/trc-supports-community-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"TRC Supports Community Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_67678\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67678\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140515-geoff-mcdonald-200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67678\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140515-geoff-mcdonald-200.jpg\" alt=\"Cr Geoff McDonald\" width=\"200\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140515-geoff-mcdonald-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140515-geoff-mcdonald-200-188x300.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67678\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Toowoomba councillor Geoff McDonald<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>April 17, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fifty-seven groups across the Toowoomba region have received a total of $248,000 for future projects thanks to the latest round of community funding from Toowoomba Regional Council.<\/p>\n<p>The April Ordinary Meeting of Council approved the Community Grant Program funding on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>TRC Environment and Community Committee chair Cr Geoff McDonald said Council\u2019s grant program covered applications for the Sport and Recreation, Event Support, Community Economic Development, Community Support, Environment and the Cultural and Arts Support grants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grants in Round 2 of the program would be allocated as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sport and Recreation: Nine successful applications totalling $123,558<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Event Support: 19 successful applications totalling $48,775<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Support: 15 successful applications totalling $23,886<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Environment: Six successful applications totalling $26,179<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Cultural and Arts: Five successful applications totalling $10,565, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Economic Development: Three successful applications totalling $15,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cr McDonald said Council was pleased to offer financial assistance to a diverse range of community and not-for-profit groups.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCouncil appreciates the difficulty smaller groups face to find money for projects, services and facilities,\u201d Cr McDonald said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreference is given to applications that fulfil a range of criteria covering community inclusiveness and interaction, a willingness to encourage community partnerships, upgrading facilities or services or establishing a new service, facility or initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCouncil officers are available ahead of each funding round to offer guidance around applications. Additional information about each grant category is available on Council\u2019s website. Visit www.tr.qld.gov.au\/grants<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next funding round will open in July with applications to close on August 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEligible groups around the region are welcome to make enquiries or lodge applications at the appropriate time to help their organisation stage events or improve facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Community Economic Development:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yarraman Business Group (for 10 town head sculptures).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Community Support:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rosalie Shire Historical Society (to digitise records)<\/li>\n<li>Yarraman and District Progress Association (Christmas display project)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Environment:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rosalie North Landcare Group (Coolatai grass eradication)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Sport and Recreation:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cooyar Campdraft Association (amenity building planning at Cooyar
