The occupants of a vehicle which left the D’Aguilar Highway and hit a tree near Nanango on Saturday afternoon were lucky to escape without injury, but the front of the car was badly damaged<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Police are investigating why a car skidded off the D’Aguilar Highway into a tree near Nanango on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The vehicle, carrying an adult and two children, left the highway about a kilometre north of the Copper Country Motor Inn about 4:30pm.<\/p>\n

Police and an ambulance crew attended the scene soon afterwards.<\/p>\n

No one was injured, but the front of the sedan was badly damaged.<\/p>\n

A driver taking part in the Wondai Sprints was transferred to Murgon Hospital following a crash\u00a0<\/strong>at 4:25pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wondai Sprints organiser Kevin Krosch said it appeared the driver had failed to negotiate a bend on the course.<\/p>\n

He said the driver appeared shaken and in pain when he got out of the vehicle so he was taken by ambulance to Murgon Hospital for observation.<\/p>\n

The crash capped off an eventful day at the Sprints, which included an aircraft making an emergency landing at the rear of the track after it ran out of fuel.<\/p>\n

The aircraft remained parked near the track until the day’s racing concluded.<\/p>\n

About 5:00pm, police helped the pilot refuel the plane and make a safe departure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
