Peter lived in Kingaroy from 1978-82 and knew David Bryce very well.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the $500 Photography prize was Sandra Anderson, from Blackbutt, for &#8220;Storm Over Nukku&#8221;, an imposing photograph of a derelict farm hut overshadowed by a brooding storm front.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kathleen Gogerly, from Booie, won the $300 Youth prize for her pen and ink drawing of the Yarraman Hotel-Motel, while Sue Lederhose, from Mundubbera, took out the $500 Rural Animals category with her watercolour, &#8220;Sandy&#8217;s Goats&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The $500 Portrait category was won by Kingaroy artist Elizabeth Greensill for &#8220;Trevor &#8211; Farmer, Neighbour, Friend&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Landscapes category attracted 31 entries so \u00a0prize money was awarded to first, second and third winners.<\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy artist\u00a0Carmel Nott won he $500 first prize for &#8220;A Bunya Forest Gallery&#8221;; Dot Rowland, from Kingaroy, took the $300 second prize for &#8220;Farm Paddock&#8221;; and Shannus O&#8217;Sullivan, from Hivesville, \u00a0won the $200 third for &#8220;Sunrise West Of Warrego&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor Keith Campbell, who assisted in the announcements along with Arts portfolio chair Cr Danita Potter, said he was very proud to say he had a David Bryce artwork in his home.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When he was chairman of Bean Growers Australia, the company had commissioned David Bryce to paint a picture of the company&#8217;s River Road processing plant.<\/p>\n<p>This had been hung in Bean Growers&#8217; boardroom until Mayor Campbell retired from the company, after which it had been presented to him as a retirement gift.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Campbell congratulated all the artists who put works into the competition for the quality of their pieces, and the Kingaroy Arts Team for developing the concept.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The David Bryce Rural Art Awards exhibition will remain on display at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to 4:00pm Mondays to Fridays and 10:00am to 2:00pm on weekends until May 27.
