April 9, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Linc Energy has been found guilty in the Brisbane District Court of causing serious environmental harm at its underground coal gasification project near Chinchilla.<\/p>\n

The company, which is in liquidation, had pleaded not guilty to five charges of wilfully causing environmental harm between 2007-13.<\/p>\n

The trial has been running since January 29 however Linc Energy was not represented and offered no evidence in its own defence.<\/p>\n

Crown Prosecutor Ralph Devlin QC\u00a0alleged Linc was aware it was causing serious damage but allowed operations to continue, releasing contamination into the soil, air and water table.<\/p>\n

The company will be sentenced in May.<\/p>\n
