Organisers of the third annual Power Up Car Show & Shine And Swap Meet are “rapt” with the results – with 50 cars and 17 motorbikes taking part in the display.<\/p>\n

The event is a fundraiser for the Nanango Sporting Association, which oversees the sporting grounds in Burnett Street, and was held on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Secretary Val Tebble said she was “rapt with the weather, rapt with the number of swap stalls and rapt with people’s enthusiasm”.<\/p>\n

Stallholders and entrants started turning up at the grounds early on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

“It was still dark when they started arriving,” Val said.<\/p>\n

She said a highlight for many visitors on the day was a 1966 red Ford Thunderbird which arrived in Australia from the United States in 2009 but has only been on Australian roads twice since then (including Sunday).<\/p>\n

The T-Bird has been “mechanically revitalised” but is in otherwise original condition.<\/p>\n

“I feel we are getting a bigger following with more people turning up every year, especially people who have not been here before,” Val said.<\/p>\n

“And it’s not the same cars each year, which is great for the visitors.”<\/p>\n

Prizes were distributed in a number of categories:<\/strong><\/p>\n
