Principal Susan Beatty will be taking away a lot of fond memories from her time at Taabinga State School, if her farewell last week is any indication.<\/p>\n

Susan was praised by pupils, P&C president Sheena Lindholm and South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell at a special school assembly held on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The school choir sang “It’s a better place since you came along …”, children mobbed Mrs Beatty for hugs and she was presented with a tableful of “thank you” cards and gifts.<\/p>\n

Then a chant started up in the hall: “Mis-sus Bea-tee, Mis-sus Bea-tee, Mis-sus Bea-tee …”<\/p>\n

Not surprisingly, Susan was moved to tears by all the unexpected attention.<\/p>\n

She has been principal at Taabinga State School for the past nine years.<\/p>\n

Her new role will be as principal at Taranganba State School, near Yeppoon.<\/p>\n

Newly appointed Taabinga P&C president Sheena Lindholm said Susan had not just been a principal but “like a mother to 326 students”.<\/p>\n

Under her regime, Taabinga State School had taken part in many community activities, including becoming the highest fundraising school in the South Burnett Relay For Life campaign for two years in a row.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell passed on the thanks from the Council for the quality of Susan’s leadership of the school and for the school’s involvement in so many community events.<\/p>\n
