South Burnett CTC has received $1.02 million from the Federal Government to continue its Reconnect Service for at-risk youth for another five years.<\/p>\n

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O\u2019Brien said the funding would assist young people at risk of homelessness in Murgon and Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

Reconnect uses community-based early intervention services to bring about family reconciliation for young people aged 12-18 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.<\/p>\n

It aims to help these young people improve their level of engagement with family, work, education, training and their local community.<\/p>\n

Funding was also announced for three other providers offering Reconnect services in the Wide Bay region: Open Doors Youth Service, Fraser Coast Reconnect, and Reconnect Crucial Connection.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Reconnect provides support and assistance to young people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless,\u201d Mr O\u2019Brien said.<\/p>\n

\u201cReconnect services will help stabilise the lives of vulnerable young people in Wide Bay by keeping them connected with their families, communities, and education or employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Coalition Government\u2019s long-term funding of Reconnect enables services to intervene to help prevent crisis from occurring.<\/p>\n
