expand after the South Burnett Regional Council voted to waive two conditions attached to an approval it issued for the project last November.

At Wednesday’s monthly general meeting, Councillors heard the supermarket’s owners had requested an amendment to the conditions, which required swept paths that would allow trucks entering the site to reverse into the supermarket’s loading dock wholly within the site.

The supermarket had been unable to start work on the project until the two conditions were either satisfied or waived.

Councillors voted to lift the conditions in the interests of seeing the project move ahead.

* * *

A transport station at Brooklands was also given council permission at Wednesday’s meeting.

Protheroe Haulage Pty Ltd was given a Development Approval for a Material Change Of Use on a property at 168 Brooklands Pimpimbudgee Road.

The approval formalises the company’s use of the property, which is on the same site as a dwelling house.

Councillors were told the application had been publicly notified last August, and 21 public submissions had been received during the notification period.

The proposal was independently assessed by Reel Planning Pty Ltd, who recommended it be approved subject to a number of conditions.

These included limiting truck movements in and out of the property to a maximum of four on any day; two movements between 10:00pm and 6:00am on any day; and a maximum of eight movements between 10:00pm and 6:00am in any calendar week.

The transport station will be restricted to carrying out truck maintenance between 7:00am and 8:00pm Mondays to Fridays, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.

Truck drivers will also need to observe a number of other conditions designed to minimise disruption to neighbouring residences, and the company will be required to put a screen planting along the property’s front boundary to preserve the area’s visual amenity.

Councillors approved the development unanimously.

* * *

The former Durong dip facility will be sold or leased so a fuel cell can be built on the site.

The old dip is located at the corner of the Chinchilla Wondai Road and Mundubbera Durong Road, diagonally opposite the former Durong General Store.

Councillors heard the land is currently used by transport companies to park trailers as they move in and out of the region.

Residents in the area have been forced to travel long distances to refuel since the Durong Store closed several months ago, so the introduction of a fuel cell would be a welcome addition to the area.

Councillors resolved to call a tender for the sale of the land, and authorised CEO Gary Wall to negotiate the sale contract.

If no tenders are accepted, the land will be offered for lease.

<h2 style="text-align: Nanango.

Work on replacing the roof and installing air-conditioning at the Kingaroy Heritage Museum will occur this month, and so will laying new vinyl flooring at Boondooma Homestead’s office.

The Council is also working with local tradespeople and Wormald to install an uninterruptible power supply at the Lady Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital to provide battery backup power if mains power fails.

Council-owned houses in Nanango are being prepared for auction, and Council-owned vacant land available for sale is listed with Raine and Horne in Kingaroy.

The proceeds of any house and land sales will be used for future capital works projects.

Murgon’s IGA supermarket will be
