played at Murgon State High School&#8217;s pitch &#8211; with only a couple of very light showers falling near the end of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Cherbourg batted first and were all out for 116 in the 27th over.<\/p>\n<p>Cherbourg&#8217;s opening batsmen both went cheaply which set last year&#8217;s grand finalists on the back foot before the game had really begun.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Barry Fisher Snr top-scored with 31 runs, inspiring a mini-revival in the tail.<\/p>\n<p>Young Alfred Watcho was the next best with the bat, taking 19 runs.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, the Timbertowners overtook the target in the 31st over for the loss of just four wickets.<\/p>\n<p>Top scorer was Shane Argent with 37 not out.<\/p>\n<p>The game was played in a good spirit with both teams joking and posing together for photos at the end.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_204171\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-204171\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180310cricket2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-204171\" title=\"20180310 Cricket Grand Final\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180310cricket2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180310cricket2.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180310cricket2-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-204171\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Barry Fisher Snr sends one down &#8230; *<\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Gympie Two-Day Grand Final<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Day 2 of the Gympie A Grade Grand Final between Southern District Devils (Kingaroy) and the Murgon Crusaders was played in Gympie at the weekend, with the Devils proving triumphant after a rain-affected game.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* * *<\/p>\n<p><strong>by Graham Brown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Southern Districts Devils claimed the Gympie A Grade 2-Day Trophy.<\/p>\n<p>They held off the fast finishing Murgon Crusaders in a weather-affected match. Unfortunately around 50 overs of play were lost on Day 2 due to a wet pitch.<\/p>\n<p>Kieran Askin must be commended for his sportsmanship as the Devils were in the box seat after claiming a First Innings lead, leaving Murgon needing an outright result to claim victory.<\/p>\n<p>Askin told the umpires the Devils had come to play and the day was slipping away.
