The Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry is urging qualified South Burnett businesses to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for work on the Coopers Gap Wind Farm.<\/p>\n

GE Catcon, the wind farm’s principal contractors, called for EOIs in 10 areas last Friday.<\/p>\n

The company is seeking businesses that can supply charter bus hire; general truck hire; small plant hire; skilled labour hire; and general steel fabrication, welding and assembly services.<\/p>\n

GE Catcon is also seeking contractors who can supply pre-cast drainage systems; a sediment control structure; mechanical and electrical fitout of turbine towers; a building contractor; and a private building certifier.<\/p>\n

Expressions of interest for seven of these close on Friday, March 30.<\/p>\n

Three others will close on April 27, June 15 and July 14.<\/p>\n

KCCI president Rob Fitz-Herbert urged South Burnett businesses who can supply the required services to submit an EOI to be part of the tender process.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Coopers Gap is a great opportunity for our region’s businesses to be involved in a unique project that will see Australia’s largest wind farm built right on our doorstep,” he said.<\/p>\n

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I hope no qualified business in our region overlooks.”<\/p>\n

The next six-weekly KCCI Meet ‘n’ Greet will be held at St Mary’s Catholic College in Kent Street, Kingaroy on Wednesday, March 28 at 5:15pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saint Mary\u2019s are interested in gaining insights from local businesses about potential curriculum offerings they might introduce to help meet local employment needs.<\/p>\n

They hope this will provide opportunities for students when they complete their education.<\/p>\n

The College is asking businesses to identify the most significant areas of need where potential employees are lacking; what characteristics they value most highly in job applicants; and what level of qualification they usually expect applicants to have.<\/p>\n

The meeting will also receive an update from the South Burnett Regional Council on its current projects, including the results of public and business consultations on the preliminary draft of the Kingaroy revitalisation project.<\/p>\n

Meeting fees are $10 to cover the cost of drinks and nibbles, and all businesses are welcome whether they’re KCCI members or not.<\/p>\n
