State Development Minister Cameron Dick<\/figcaption><\/figure>March 12, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Queensland Government will invest $22 million into a program that will help councils get infrastructure projects to a “shovel-ready” stage.<\/p>\n

On Monday, State Development Minister Cameron Dick said councils should apply to the second round of the Maturing Infrastructure Pipeline Program to secure funding to support their infrastructure planning.<\/p>\n

“This next release of the program supports local governments by funding strategic planning, the preparation of business cases and the detailed design of their local infrastructure projects,” Mr Dick said.<\/p>\n

“Assisting our local governments to move their infrastructure projects forward and closer to being shovel-ready is vital for stimulating the local economy and creating jobs.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re enabling councils to build capability and develop projects through to the next stages of the infrastructure pipeline.”<\/p>\n

Mr Dick said the first round of the program received positive feedback and helped councils to move their projects forward.<\/p>\n

Local Government Association of Queensland CEO Greg Hallam said investment in infrastructure was essential for strong regional economies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This program also helps ensure councils move forward with the right infrastructure projects at the right time,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We encourage councils to apply for funding to get their projects up and running.”<\/p>\n

Applications open on Monday, March 12 at noon and close on Monday, April 9 at noon.<\/strong><\/p>\n
