The South Burnett Regional Council will hold two closed-door meetings with CBD property owners and traders on March 22 about its plans for an $8 million, two-year upgrade of Kingaroy’s CBD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

March 11, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding two meetings for Kingaroy’s CBD property owners and traders on Thursday, March 22 to discuss preliminary plans for its inner-city revitalisation project.<\/p>\n

The Council plan to spend $8 million upgrading Kingaroy’s CBD over two financial years.<\/p>\n

The seven stage project encompasses Haly Street, George Street, the rail corridor, Kingaroy, Alford, Short, Markwell, Youngman and Glendon streets.<\/p>\n

Council has commissioned JFP Urban Consultants Pty Ltd to conduct the civil and landscape design for the project.<\/p>\n

Company representatives are expected to attend the meetings, which will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall’s Reception Room.<\/p>\n

The first meeting – for business property owners – will be held from 10:00am to noon.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by a second session for CBD retail traders between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

The meetings are separate from two open door public consultation meetings which will be held at the same venue on March 22-23.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Kingaroy Chamber Of Commerce and Industry president Rob Fitz-Herbert said he thought the times set for the two meetings could prove inconvenient for many traders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, he believed Kingaroy business involvement in the project was essential.<\/p>\n

The Chamber have previously told Council they wish to be involved in the project, which they hope will positively impact the town’s economy by making the CBD a more welcoming place for shoppers.<\/p>\n
