South Burnett community groups have been awarded more than $192,500 in the latest funding rounds of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said more than $9.9 million had been shared among community groups across Queensland.<\/p>\n

“Community organisations are struggling to meet the ongoing demand for their services so it is wonderful that the State Government can provide a helping hand,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“These grant programs provide much-needed funds for community groups to help them provide the facilities and activities which make our communities better places.<\/p>\n

“They are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations.”<\/p>\n

The State Government established the Gambling Community Benefit Fund in 1994. It receives money from taxes on\u00a0Golden Casket lotteries, wagering, keno and poker machines. It distributes these funds to\u00a0not-for-profit community groups four times a year, including one-off grants up to $35,000.<\/p>\n

The Jupiters Casino\u00a0Community Benefit Fund was set up in 1987. It distributes funds received from casinos to\u00a0not-for-profit community\u00a0groups on a quarterly basis, including one-off grants up to $150,000\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Applications for the next round of grants close on February 28.<\/p>\n

The successful South Burnett applicants in the latest rounds were:<\/p>\n

Gambling Community Benefit Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Burnett War Memorial Association – $20,909 – to upgrade air base building<\/li>\n
  • Murgon Golf Club – $27,665 – to install irrigation system<\/li>\n
  • Proston Pastoral, Agricultural and Horticultural Society – $4800 – to purchase wood chop cradles<\/li>\n
  • South Burnett PCYC – $31,805 – to upgrade gym equipment<\/li>\n
  • The Pantry – $28,050 – to purchase refrigeration equipment<\/li>\n
  • Windera State School – $31,489 – to upgrade playground equipment<\/li>\n
  • Wondai Country Club – $31,616 – to remove asbestos from clubhouse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n
