{"id":20168,"date":"2013-01-08T17:58:55","date_gmt":"2013-01-08T07:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=20168"},"modified":"2023-11-28T16:29:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T06:29:41","slug":"award-for-pest-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2013\/01\/08\/award-for-pest-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Award For Pest Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>January 8, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Burnett District Pest Management Group (BDPMG) has launched an annual award to recognise a South Burnett landholder or community member for their efforts toward enhancing pest management awareness and activities.<\/p>\n<p>Similar awards will also be presented in the Bundaberg and North Burnett council areas.<\/p>\n<p>The BDPMG is a working group made up of pest management officers from the three Local Government Areas and various State Government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Its main aim is to deliver accurate and up-to-date training and advice to Local Government pest management officers, landholders and State agencies tackling issues associated with controlling pest plants and animals in the Burnett Catchment.<\/p>\n<p>The new award is being sponsored by Dow Agro Science.<\/p>\n<p>Nominees will be assessed on one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Innovation<\/strong> &#8211; use of technology, innovation and best practice treatment methods to achieve successful pest management outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Proactivity<\/strong> &#8211; displayed oustanding leadership and ongoing efforts in the area of pest management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Community involvemen<\/strong>t &#8211; works with the community to raise awareness and encourage participation in co-ordinated pest management programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pest Management Program<\/strong> &#8211; has developed an implemented an effective pest management program on their property<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong> &#8211; undertakes a proactive role to foster awareness of threats caused by pest plants and animals including working with community groups, schools or education facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winner will receive two nights accommodation for two people at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island, including return barge fees, buffet breakfast and a \u00a0tour of the island.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations close on January 23.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.southburnett.biz\/pdfs\/pestform.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download a nomination form<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(116kb PDF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Burnett District Pest Management Group (BDPMG) has launched an annual award to recognise a South Burnett landholder or community member for their efforts toward enhancing pest management awareness and activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,36],"tags":[1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
