The St Mary’s Catholic College Parents & Friends Association handed over a cheque on Wednesday to mark the start of the school’s air-conditioning program.<\/p>\n

Principal Angela Myles said the initial donation would be used to install air conditioning in the prep classroom.<\/p>\n

“It is recognised that comfortable learning spaces can enhance learning outcomes,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Therefore this will be the beginning of a long-term project implemented in conjunction with the P&F that also involves revitalisation of classrooms to make them more conducive to learning.”<\/p>\n

Mrs Myles said a “whole school” plan was being implemented which also included passive approaches such as increased shade and ventilation.<\/p>\n

“At the same time the college is exploring ways to reduce our overall energy consumption through the development of a teacher and student led sustainability committee,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We would like to thank the P&F Association for this long-term commitment to the college.”<\/p>\n
