Three South Burnett towns will be hosting an Auskick program next week as part of a long-term plan to embed AFL in the region (Photo: Auskick)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Auskick, an introductory program for Aussie Rules, will be running in Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy this year.<\/p>\n

The program is open to boys and girls aged 5-12, and fosters a fun environment where children have the freedom to run, jump, kick, laugh and express themselves as well as learn the basics of Australian football.<\/p>\n

In weekly sessions children explore the world of AFL, building football and motor skills while playing in a safe and fun setting.<\/p>\n

Regional Manager for AFL on the Darling Downs, Jeff Neumann, said that apart from providing healthy exercise the program will also play an important role in developing AFL in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The South Burnett has been quite successful in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s AFL Darling Downs competitions for many seasons now, and the NAB AFL Auskick program is the first step in building a sustainable future for the Saints,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We have three centres on offer for the South Burnett this year, and on average over 100 boys and girls participate in these programs.<\/p>\n

“The NAB AFL Auskick program will localise AFL for boys and girls.<\/p>\n

“It’s also part of an important plan to build a complete pathway for the South Burnett Saints AFC.”<\/p>\n
