The Queensland Farmers Federation (QFF)\u00a0 is holding a one-day workshop in Kingaroy on February 20 to help South Burnett farmers reduce risks and increase efficiency and compliance to workplace legislation.<\/p>\n

The Workplace Essentials workshop, which will run from 8:45am to 4:00pm at the DAF complex opposite Kingaroy Airport, is part of a series of 17 similar events the QFF has held around the State since last September.<\/p>\n

It is being funded by the State Government and co-ordinated through the Queensland Agriculture Workforce Network.<\/p>\n

QFF President Stuart Armitage has encouraged all farmers to take advantage of the subsidised training, which is specifically tailored for farm employers and employees.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are about 1700 workplace injuries in agriculture per year. This is unacceptable and why we want to help farm businesses get up-to-speed on their safety obligations,\u201d Mr Armitage said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that all levels of farm leadership are aware of their obligations and the practices that can be adopted to better control risks and prevent future workplace accidents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese workshops are a clear example of industry proactively addressing sector wide workplace health and safety issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
