The Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Association (BBAC) has launched a public appeal to raise $204,740 to build two new independent living units at its Scott Haven complex.<\/p>\n

In previous years the BBAC has sought community help to raise funds to build aged care facilities in the Timbertowns.<\/p>\n

Previous fundraising campaigns contributed to the upgrade of the Scott Haven Units at 49 Hart Street, the purchase of the house next door at 47 Hart Street, and land at Greenhills Drive which has been set aside for a future aged care facility.<\/p>\n

At present, Scott Haven has four single-bedroom duplex units which provide affordable accommodation for aged people who don\u2019t own their own home and can’t afford to live in the private rental market.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last July the BBAC was guaranteed a Commonwealth Government grant of $204,740 to build two more units at the Scott Haven site.<\/p>\n

But because the grant funding is on a dollar-for-dollar basis, it needs to raise a matching amount before construction can start.<\/p>\n

“We are asking for community support to help raise the funds to build these much needed two bedroom units in Hart Street,” BBAC Treasurer Emeric Charles said.<\/p>\n

“These independent living units allow aged residents from the Timbertowns to stay in the community they know and love, close to family, friends and local services that they need for their health and ongoing happiness.”<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Association is a registered charity with public benevolent institution status, so all gifts to the appeal are tax deductible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As as deductible gift recipient, BBAC is not required to issue a receipt and contributors can use their bank statements and\/or email notifications to claim a tax deduction.<\/p>\n

“However, if you require a receipt from BBAC one will certainly be issued to you,” Emeric said.<\/p>\n

Donations to the Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Building Fund can be made directly to their Bendigo Bank account (BSB 633000 – Acc 160832713) or over the counter at the Blackbutt Post Office.<\/p>\n
