How Heritage House in Yarraman looked a few years ago … it will soon be presenting a fresher, much more attractive face to the world<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Yarraman\u2019s Heritage House will be getting a second facelift soon, thanks to a grant from Stanwell Corporation.<\/p>\n

Two years ago the front of the former Sacred Heart Convent was completely repainted thanks to Stanwell, but the sides and rear of the building were not.<\/p>\n

The result made such a dramatic difference to the building’s street appearance that it prompted Stanwell to provide an extra $35,000 grant to complete the painting work.<\/p>\n

Heritage House is the home of the Yarraman Historical Society and community radio station Wild Horse FM 99.7.<\/p>\n

It also serves as Yarraman’s Visitor Information Centre, and provides meeting facilities for other community groups.<\/p>\n

Yarraman Historical Society President Helene Johnson said she was “over the moon” about the grant, and looking forward to the project’s completion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We have engaged Peter McDonald from McDonald House Painting in Nanango to do the work,” Helene said.<\/p>\n

“Peter was the man who repainted the front of the building, and he did such a good job we’ve asked him to do all the rest.”<\/p>\n

Helene said the building had needed repainting for decades, but its enormous size meant the cost of the work was prohibitive for a small non-profit group.<\/p>\n

Work is expected to start on February 5, and the Historical Society hope to hold a community celebration when the project is complete.<\/p>\n
