Kane Brunjes and Olivia Everitt … hoping to give the Kingaroy Skate Park an artistic makeover<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Young people at a loose end over the school holidays have been invited to come on down to the Kingaroy Skate Park to take part in a two-day art project.<\/p>\n

Local artists Olivia Everitt and Kane Brunjes will be running free workshops on January 9-10 to repaint and revitalise the skate ramps at the park, and possibly also the mural wall.<\/p>\n

South Burnett CTC has received a $2000 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant from the South Burnett Regional Council to assist with the work.<\/p>\n

The first part of the project will involve painting the sides of the ramps.<\/p>\n

Kane, who is enrolled to study visual arts at QUT next year, said he planned to include text elements and block colours in the makeover.<\/p>\n

An idea he is working on is the theme “Same, Same But Different”.<\/p>\n

Olivia said if there was enough time – and enough painters – they would also tackle the mural (graffiti) wall which has not had a revamp for several years.<\/p>\n

She said she hoped that the people who used the skate park would come along and “take ownership” of the project.<\/p>\n

Interested would-be artists can either book online<\/a><\/strong> (it’s free) or simply drop in between 10:00am and 3:00pm on both days.<\/p>\n

Footnote:<\/strong> This is the second collaboration by Olivia and Kane. They worked together on a successful mural project at the South Burnett PCYC in Murgon.<\/p>\n
