LNP Member for Maranoa David Littleproud has been appointed the new Federal Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources.<\/p>\n

Mr Littleproud, who is a first-term MP and only elected to Federal Parliament last year, was one of the big winners in a Cabinet reshuffle announced on Tuesday by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.<\/p>\n

Mr Turnbull told the ABC that Mr Littleproud was “a capable man with 20 years’ experience in agribusiness”.<\/p>\n

Mr Littleproud has inherited the portfolio from Deputy Opposition Leader Barnaby Joyce, who has taken on the Infrastructure and Transport role.<\/p>\n

  • Former Queensland State MP John McVeigh (LNP), elected to Federal Parliament in July 2016 as the Member for Groom, will take on the portfolio of Regional Development, Territories and Local Government. Mr McVeigh was a former Queensland Agriculture Minister.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Deputy Nationals leader Bridget McKenzie (Vic) has been appointed to the Sport, Rural Health and Regional Communications portfolios.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Christian Porter (WA Liberal) is the new Attorney-General, replacing George Brandis who will become Australia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Michael Keenan (WA Liberal) will join Cabinet as the Minister for Human Services and Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • Dan Tehan (Vic Liberal) has been elevated to the role of Social Services Minister.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
