Police storage sheds are always full of recovered bicycles, and sadly most will eventually head to auction as they have not been claimed and police have no way of identifying their owners.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Police urge bicycle owners always to report thefts, regardless of the value of the bike stolen.<\/p>\n

However, when\u00a0 reporting a loss or theft, it is important the correct details of the bicycle are provided to police.<\/p>\n

The staff in the Kingaroy Police Property Office do everything they can to try to locate the rightful owners of recovered bikes.<\/p>\n

But many bicycles have not been reported stolen or bike owners are unable to provide sufficient details to identify their bike.<\/p>\n

To assist with the details required, police have developed a Bicycle Identification Card.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Simply print out the card (see PDF download below) or collect one from Kingaroy police station.<\/p>\n

Fill out the details, add a photo of the bike, and file the card in a safe place at home.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Police would much rather see the bikes returned to their rightful owners instead of being loaded on a truck heading off to auction.<\/p>\n

Bicycle engraving is available free of charge at the Kingaroy Police Station, where a record is kept of the identification number.<\/p>\n

It is also proposed that a bicycle engraving morning will be in held in Kingaroy in the New Year.<\/p>\n
