The South Burnett Pantry is hoping that shoppers will extend “loads of love” to help less fortunate local residents have a happier Christmas.<\/p>\n

The Pantry will be the beneficiary of the “Loads Of Love” campaign launched in Kingaroy by METRO Care on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba-based agency has been collecting food for the disadvantaged for eight years, and this is the second year it has extended its campaign to also include the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

METRO Care manager Matt Gregg said it was a simple way for people to be able to help their neighbours.<\/p>\n

All shoppers have to do is grab a free red shopping bag from Harvey Norman or the Heritage Bank in Kingaroy, and fill it with non-perishable groceries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Last year we received more than 14 tonnes of generosity (across the whole campaign),” Matt said.<\/p>\n

“The aim for this year is 15 tonnes.”<\/p>\n

Heritage Bank manager Craig Jones said last year he was “nearly falling over” all the red bags dropped off to his branch in Shoppingworld.<\/p>\n

Each of the donated bags will be weighed with a running total kept on the Loads Of Love website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Pantry leader Jim Bennett said that after December 15, the Pantry would be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30am to 12:30pm for emergency relief.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
