Thanks to the support of Queensland residents, more than 55,000 meals were donated to people in need through Foodbank Australia as a result of Subway’s \u201cLive Feed\u201d day on November 3.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy franchisee Mark Reinbott told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> the event had been a big success at his store.<\/p>\n

More than 287,000 meals were donated across Australia – and more than 13.3 million meals across the world – with Subway shops in more than 60 countries taking part.<\/p>\n

Queenslanders supported the global initiative by simply buying a sub, salad or wrap on the day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They received a second sub of equal or lesser value for free, and Subway donated the cost of a Foodbank meal for each sub, salad or wrap sold.<\/p>\n

Brianna Casey, CEO of Foodbank Australia, said she was delighted to be part of\u00a0the \u201cLive Feed\u201d for its inaugural year.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnding hunger globally is a monumental task, but campaigns like this help us not only shine a spotlight on the issue, but also do something about it,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We were thrilled to be a part of Subway\u2019s initiative to help us fight hunger in Australia.<\/p>\n

“We want to extend our thanks to everyone who visited their local Subway to raise hundreds of thousands of meals for Australians who struggle to put food on their plates for themselves and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n
