{"id":194620,"date":"2017-11-06T13:49:26","date_gmt":"2017-11-06T03:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=194620"},"modified":"2020-08-11T13:30:41","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T03:30:41","slug":"50m-promise-to-upgrade-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2017\/11\/06\/50m-promise-to-upgrade-road\/","title":{"rendered":"$50m Promise To Upgrade Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_193485\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193485\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171023deb1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-193485\" title=\"20171023 Deb Frecklington\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171023deb1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171023deb1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171023deb1-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171023deb1-285x177.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193485\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington inspects a single-lane section of the Mundubbera-Durong Road (Photo: Nanango Electorate Office)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>November 6, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The LNP has committed to spending $50 million to upgrade the Mundubbera-Durong Road if successful at the State Election.<\/p>\n<p>The promise includes a $15 million investment to widen and seal the 11km single-lane section of the road and $35 million for a new bridge to cross the Boyne River Bridge, about 20km south of Mundubbera.<\/p>\n<p>The announcements were made on Monday in Mundubbera by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington and LNP candidate for Callide, Colin Boyce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mrs Frecklington said the commitment to the Mundubbera-Durong Road was a key investment for the region and one which had been needed for many years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important for the economic prosperity of the region, in particular for primary producers and transport companies,&#8221; Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would also like to thank Cr Kathy Duff for her determination to get this road recognised.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She has been working for about 13 years to highlight the importance of Mundubbera-Durong Road and the need for funding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI personally inspected the 11km single-lane section just south of the North Burnett-South Burnett boundary and it is obvious this section must be fixed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cTo complete the package, the LNP will also deliver a new $35 million Boyne River Bridge which will improve safety and make it more flood resilient.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project will form part of the LNP&#8217;s $80 million Better Bridges Program which would include replacing timber bridges, safety works on existing bridges, improved signage for motorists and capacity upgrades to increase bridge load limits.<\/p>\n<p>The current bridge is a narrow, one-lane bridge.
