Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said on Friday she believes the Works for Queensland program is a cruel hoax on Queenslanders.<\/p>\n

“Under Labor\u2019s policies, the youth unemployment rate in Outback Queensland is 57 per cent, 26 per cent in Wide Bay and 22.4 per cent in Townsville,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“Labor has run out of ideas to create jobs and build infrastructure and are simply extending flawed programs.<\/p>\n

“Bizarrely, Labor claims Works for Queensland projects include three rubbish bins at a cost of $5,000 to support two jobs, $20,000 of signage at a dog park to support three jobs and top-dressing a sporting oval.”<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said the LNP plan to deliver real infrastructure to support regional jobs.<\/p>\n

“The LNP will invest $500 million to reinstate the Royalties for Regions program to deliver real infrastructure for our regions,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Under the former LNP Government, Royalties for Regions delivered many important local infrastructure projects including the $19.4 million floodway at Blakey\u2019s Crossing in Townsville, a $26 million upgrade of the Scrub Hill Road, the Wide Bay Drive and Burrum Heads Road intersection on the Fraser Coast, a $15.7 million levee embankment to better protect Roma from floods.<\/p>\n

“Royalties for Regions also delivered $13.5 million to the South Burnett to help build the new Kingaroy Waste Water Treatment Plant, the South Burnett Rail Trail and the new intersection on Kingaroy\/Barkers Creek Road, plus a further $10 million for new overtaking lanes on the D\u2019Aguilar Highway and Brisbane Valley Highway.<\/p>\n
