The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club hosted former members of the Kingaroy Apex Club to a concert and lunch on Thursday to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre.<\/p>\n

The concert consisted of pieces put on by various members and friends of the Senior Cits, featuring well-known country songs, comedy skits and a mini-squeezebox concert by Steve Hood.<\/p>\n

Apexian Peter McDonald related the history of the construction of the building, which was financed 50 per cent by the Federal Government, one-third by the State Government and the rest by Kingaroy Apex.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell congratulated the Apexians on their achievement 40 years ago.<\/p>\n

“This was a mammoth exercise,” he said.<\/p>\n

The building is managed by South Burnett Citizens Welfare Inc, now known as SBcare.<\/p>\n

CEO Cheryl Dalton said there had been two major renovations since the building had been opened, which included the provision of more offices and respite space.<\/p>\n

The 40th anniversary cake was cut by Kevin Schultz, the oldest member of the Senior Cits and a former president of the association.<\/p>\n
