The South Burnett Community Agriculture Network will be holding its last meeting for 2017 in November to coincide with National Agriculture Day celebrations.<\/p>\n

Network members have been meeting quarterly to discuss issues of interest to South Burnett farmers.<\/p>\n

Speaking at their last meeting – which attracted about 40 people – Kumbia peanut and mung bean grower Peter Howlett said the aim was to develop an overarching producers group which encompassed all local producers, tackling local issues, lobbying, networking and sharing information.<\/p>\n

Grazier Alan Broome, from Barkers Creek, said one of the first tasks would be collecting data with the aim to create a database of all South Burnett producers which would be important when applying for disaster assistance.<\/p>\n

The group’s fourth meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 21, from 5:30pm at the TAFE Queensland Kingaroy campus in Geritz Road.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Snacks will be served on a “grazing table” featuring locally grown produce.<\/p>\n

Guest speaker will be Andrew Chamberlin, Project Manager (Energy) from the Queensland Farmers Federation, who will discussing “Reducing Energy Costs”.<\/p>\n

The meeting is being sponsored by AgForce, the QFF, BIEDO, TAFE Queensland, Rural and Remote Mental Health and Rural Minds.<\/p>\n
