The picnic area and National Park\u00a0visitor information centre at Dandabah have enjoyed a $330,000 upgrade, thanks to the State Government.<\/p>\n

National Parks Minister Steven Miles said visitors and bushwalkers at the Bunya Mountains would benefit from the rejuvenation of the area, the first major upgrade since 1991.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis upgrade has been two years in the making and I am pleased that visitors can now enjoy better barbecues and picnic tables, resurfaced paths, and take a stroll across the newly refurbished pedestrian bridge, as a result of this work,\u201d Mr Miles said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe information centre has also been revamped, and it is a great place to start learning about the park, with panels about Indigenous history and culture, fauna and flora, and geology.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really picturesque area well-known for its impressive stands of tall bunya pines.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bunyas have long been a significant gathering place for Aboriginal people from across south-east Queensland. That\u2019s why our rangers consulted with the Traditional custodians to provide richer cultural insights for visitors and ensure crucial ties to country are maintained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a place that should be on everyone\u2019s \u2018to do\u2019 list over the Christmas holidays, and take advantage of the cooler temperatures during the height of summer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
