“Waterhole” Rocks proved to be a fitting name for this year’s four-day celebration of rock’n’roll at Nanango Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

Last week’s rain scared away some of the caravans and campervans that had been booked in for the event, but didn’t put a dampener on the music or the dancing.<\/p>\n

Event secretary Sue Osberg said there had been more than 300 vans originally booked – which would have been a record – but they had ended up with about 230, almost the same number as last year.<\/p>\n

The weekend kicked off on Thursday, and there was already a good crowd in attendance with 330 people served at that night’s spit roast dinner.<\/p>\n

“On Thursday night, when we had the Rock’n’Roll Boys on stage,\u00a0the dance floor was like a Saturday night three years ago,” event co-ordinator Terry Mackrell said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dancing lessons were popular on each morning, and the Fashion Parade on Saturday evening attracted many entries, with prizes awarded in five categories.<\/p>\n

There was rarely any time across the event when there wasn’t at least a few couples on the dance floor, which is laid especially for Waterhole Rocks every year.<\/p>\n

The rain did claim one victim … the Vintage Caravan and Car Show’n’Shine scheduled for Sunday was cancelled because the ground was too wet.<\/p>\n

Organisers threw open the gates for free entry on Sunday, which included a Gospel Music concert by Jeff Hancox.<\/p>\n
