Waterhole Rocks – Nanango’s annual four-day celebration of everything 50s and 60s – got off to a rocking start on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The festival attracts rock’n’roll devotees from across south-east Queensland in campervans and caravans, as well as more than a few local fans.<\/p>\n

First on the program was rock’n’roll dance lessons which saw the dance floor at the Nanango Showgrounds filled with eager participants.<\/p>\n

A pig-on-the-spit dinner, prepared by the folk from the Cooyar Hotel, kept the dancers well-fed in the evening, followed by live music from the Rock’n’Roll Boys late into the night.<\/p>\n

Friday morning’s fun will kick off at 8:00am with more dance lessons, followed by Billy Guy at 10:00am, Tina & Joe at noon; Billy Guy at 2:00pm; and the South Burnett’s own Elvis, Jeff Hancox, at 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

The festival’s official opening will be held at 6:00pm; and then The Deejays will hit the stage at 6:30pm until late.<\/p>\n

Saturday will again kick off at 8:00am with dance lessons, followed by a Mystery Car Cruise around the region at 9:00am.<\/p>\n

For those who stay at the showgrounds, Billy Guy will take to the stage at 9:00am, followed by Jeff Hancox at 11:00am, and Zed 28 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

A Fashion Competition could prove quite amusing at 5:00pm, before the Old 45s take to the stage from 6:30pm again until late.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, a two-hour Gospel concert will start at 8:00am, led by\u00a0Jeff Hancox.<\/p>\n

He’ll be followed at 10:00am by Muddy Flats, and then Peter Wisman and Jeff Hancox will perform an afternoon concert from 2:30pm.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be a Car and Vintage Caravan Show between 9:00am and noon, with presentations to the winners at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n
