Ergon Energy is inviting State Emergency Service groups to apply for grants to buy vital emergency equipment.<\/p>\n

Ergon and Energex, through parent corporation Energy Queensland, have joined forces with Powerlink to provide $200,000 in grants for SES groups.<\/p>\n

Energy Queensland CEO David Smales said field staff often work alongside SES volunteers in disasters and many Energy Queensland staff in regional Queensland were also SES volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen disasters strike Queensland, our crews are often seen working shoulder- to-shoulder with SES volunteers,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo doubt this summer our crews will again be working with SES volunteers so we are very happy to provide this financial assistance for the purchase of new equipment ultimately for the benefit of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services SES Assistant Commissioner Peter Jeffrey said SES groups can find out more about the grants through the SES Volunteer Portal or the Regional Office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
