New Hope Group – the company developing the controversial New Acland coal mine – has joined forces with LifeFlight Australia to improve the safety of communities around their mine.<\/p>\n

Community First Aid Kits, equipped with important emergency medical equipment, will be installed in community accessible places such as pubs and corner stores in Kulpi, Quinalow, Peranga, Haden and Biddeston.<\/p>\n

The kits will assist local residents in delivering critical first-response care in areas that can sometimes be more than a 40 minute drive from the nearest ambulance station.<\/p>\n

The first kit was installed at the Pioneer Hotel in Kulpi earlier this month.<\/p>\n

LifeFlight Director of Clinical Services, Dr Mark Edwards, said the Community First Aid Kits would provide an important helping hand during the critical “golden hour” after a medical emergency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hour immediately following a medical emergency is the most crucial time for survival and positive long-term outcomes for the patient,\u201d Dr Edwards said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is critical patients are provided with the best care possible during this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cLifeFlight Australia will continue to provide professional emergency medical care to these wonderful rural communities but before emergency services arrive, access to quality first-aid equipment could potentially save someone\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
