It has shown Queenslanders want our state to be a safe place, and the Palaszczuk Government is committed to ensuring that is a reality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From July 1 to September 30, a total of 16,126 firearms were surrendered for registration, safekeeping or destruction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Acting Deputy Commissioner Gee said he was also pleased with the response to the gun amnesty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis amnesty will help keep our community safe by ensuring those firearms don\u2019t fall into the wrong hands,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny firearm in the wrong hands can have tragic consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Breakdown of already processed firearms surrendered by category:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Category A \u2013 6528<\/li>\n<li>Category B \u2013 2546<\/li>\n<li>Category C \u2013 371<\/li>\n<li>Category D \u2013 135<\/li>\n<li>Category H \u2013 396<\/li>\n<li>Category M &amp; E \u2013 41<\/li>\n<li>Category R \u2013 28<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Breakdown of firearms registered\/surrendered to QPS by policing region:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Northern Region &#8211; 408<\/li>\n<li>Central Region &#8211; 1371<\/li>\n<li>Southern Region \u2013 967 (which includes the South Burnett)<\/li>\n<li>South Eastern Region &#8211; 475<\/li>\n<li>Brisbane Region \u2013 590<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The number of
