Construction of Kingaroy State High School’s $4.5 million school hall is expected to begin next month.<\/p>\n

Education Minister Kate Jones said the designation of land for the site was recently approved, and the project should be completed in May 2018.<\/p>\n

The 1350 sq m building will include a full-size netball court and performing arts facilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is great news for Kingaroy school students who have had to use the Town Hall for all their big events in the past,\u201d Ms Jones said.<\/p>\n

“Having a new hall will allow Kingaroy State High School to host events onsite which will be so much more convenient for students and staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cLarge halls like this one give schools much more scope to conduct a wide range of activities and give them a covered area for assemblies.<\/p>\n

\u201cKingaroy is a town with a strong local community \u2013 this community will also be able to use the hall on occasion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Jones said the $4.5 million investment was part of the $200 million Advancing Queensland Schools (AQS) program announced in March.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Advancing Queensland Schools program affords $116.7 million to build new halls and upgrading existing halls at 30 State schools,” she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Jones said investment in Kingaroy\u2019s school hall would also benefit the local construction industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will support 20 jobs and create important training opportunities for apprentices.<\/p>\n
