Kingaroy Women’s and Children’s Nurse unit manager Stacey Smith and midwives Jennifer Renshaw and Katie Lipsett have helped organise a special memorial service in Kingaroy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

October 11, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

A memorial service and morning tea to mark “International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day” will be held in Kingaroy on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

The service, co-ordinated by Kingaroy midwife Jennifer Renshaw, will be held in Memorial Park from 10:00am.<\/p>\n

Jennifer said the special service was for South Burnett families who have gone through the pain of having a miscarriage or stillbirth.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a midwife, I have seen firsthand the devastation of families who have gone through a pregnancy and delivery and then, tragically, don\u2019t get to take their baby home,\u201d Jennifer said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so important to acknowledge that these tiny children were loved and they continue to be honoured and remembered.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe memorial service will include a bubble release as a remembrance symbol of the precious souls and a morning tea that will be a chance for families to share their stories in a supportive environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will also be giving people who come to the event a candle to take home so they can light it for at least an hour from 7:00pm on Sunday as part of a global event to remember the babies who lit up the lives of their families for such a short time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hope is that everyone worldwide will do this so there is a continuous wave of light around the world to honour all the babies who have died too soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jennifer said all people who had experienced loss, as well as their families, were welcome to attend.<\/p>\n

The morning tea will be held at 10:00am with the memorial service to start at 10:30am. Bubbles and candles will be provided.<\/p>\n
