One of the most senior and experienced bureaucrats in Queensland will be the guest speaker at a business breakfast to be held in Kingaroy in early January.<\/p>\n

Under Treasurer Helen Gluer – well-known to South Burnett residents because of her former role with Tarong Energy – has been invited to the area by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

“To get the New Year off to a positive start, I’d like to invite you to a business breakfast to discuss ideas for economic development and business growth in our region,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

The breakfast will be held from 7:00am on Friday, January 11, at Accents Restaurant in Alford Street, Kingaroy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Cost is $20 (to cover catering).<\/p>\n

Ms Gluer will speak on “Insights Into The Economic State of Queensland”. She will be accompanied by the Deputy Under-Treasurer Alex Beavers.<\/p>\n

Ms Gluer was appointed Under Treasurer on March 27 this year.<\/p>\n

Immediately prior to this, she had accepted a secondment to act as Director-General of the Health Corporate Services Authority. In accepting this secondment, she took a leave of absence from her role as Chief Executive Officer of Stanwell Corporation, which she had held since April 2011.<\/p>\n

Helen, a former CEO at Tarong Energy, successfully guided the merger of Tarong Energy, the former Stanwell and CS Energy assets into the new Stanwell. Before Tarong Energy, she was Chief Financial Officer at Brisbane City Council.<\/p>\n

She is also an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University and was a member of the taskforce that recently delivered recommendations to the State Government over the restructuring of the TAFE network in Queensland.<\/p>\n

Previous appointments include Deputy Chancellor and Council member for the Queensland University of Technology, a Trustee of the Lord Mayor\u2019s Community Disaster Relief Appeal Fund and member of the Local Government Remuneration Tribunal.<\/p>\n

Previous directorships include the National Generators Forum, Queensland Resources Council, Translink Transit Authority, City Super Pty Ltd, the South East Queensland Water Board and Brisbane Airport Corporation. Helen also chaired the Central Queensland Ports Authority.<\/p>\n
