Former Australian and Queensland champion Matt Pascoe will be in action in Kingaroy on Saturday night in the Super Sedans\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Speedway action will roar back into life on Saturday night at the Kingaroy Speedway with a big program of racing for the beginning of the local season.<\/p>\n

There’s been lots of changes over the break, including a new name for the venue, new lights, and a new racing surface.<\/p>\n

Ian Boettcher Race Parts, a familiar name to all speedway fans, has taken over the naming rights for the Kingaroy Showground track this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so honoured to have Ian Boettcher Race Parts join forces with us here at Kingaroy,” South Burnett Speedway Club president Travis Barron said.<\/p>\n

“They\u2019ve always been a big supporter of what we are trying to achieve and we can\u2019t wait to continue to keep building into the future over this exciting new chapter at IBRP Kingaroy Speedway.\u201d<\/p>\n

A new clay surface has also been laid on the showground circuit to replace the old surface which was wearing out and becoming hard to manage.<\/p>\n

New track lights have also been installed.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Speedway Club is looking forward to a big year of racing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The annual Kings Royal will be raced on January 25-27 (Thursday-Friday-Saturday) and this year will be joined by the Queens Royal, which will be raced on the Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The Queens Royal will be only open to women drivers and passengers (either those that have never raced, still compete or have done so previously).<\/p>\n

Street Stocks and Production Sedans have been given approval to run together.<\/p>\n

The racing will be in an anti-clockwise direction. Each driver will contest three heats with the feature race being held just prior to the Kings Royal feature.<\/p>\n

The club will \u00a0involve as many women as possible from both sides of the fence, with an all-female cast of officials to be assembled to officiate the Queens Royal event.<\/p>\n

It has also been confirmed that the 2017-18 Compact Speedcars Australia National Championship will be held at IBRP Kingaroy Speedway in April, which should attract cars from all over eastern Australia.<\/p>\n

And the 2018 Queensland Wingless Sprint Title will be held at the annual Kingaroy Show meeting on Sunday, May 6.<\/p>\n

More than 100 drivers have nominated in five racing categories for Saturday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be Super Sedans, Modifieds, Production Sedans, Juniors and Street Stocks in action, with 37 events scheduled.<\/p>\n

Gates open at 2:00pm and racing kicks off at 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

Tickets are available at the gate: Adults $25, students (with ID) $15, pensioner (aged \/ disability) \u00a0$15 , children (12 & under) free; family (2 adults and 3 students) $65.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
